Toonloop is now written in C++ using the GStreamer, Clutter and Boost libraries. We are in a transition from Python to C++ that is almost done. We now need to update the documentation on this Web site.

Developers can download the project from the Github project page and ask on the mailing list for a Git write access. The current list of things to do in the TODO file in the source code directory. We might track bugs using tickets in a bug tracker, but most features to implement are listed in the TODO file, as mentionned above. We discuss about the development on the [toonloop] mailing list.

Toonloop 2.x

The current development version is written in C++ with the Gstreamer, GTK+ and Boost libraries. We are still using OpenGL and Mencoder, and we still support MIDI and OSC. It is now the one to use.

Toonloop 1.x for Python

Our former technologies are : Python, SDL (pygame), OpenGL and GLSL. We use the JPEG and Motion-JPEG formats with the Quicktime component, or AVI. Operating systems : GNU/Linux and Mac OS X for the Python current version. We use the Twisted and Nevow Python packages. Of course, one could make derivatives of this former version of Toonloop!

ToonLoop 0.x Lite for Processing/Java

The Toonloop in Processing/Java version is supported on Windows and Mac OS X. It used the oscP5 library for OpenSoundControl protocol support, but it is now disabled by default. It is possible to uncomment the related code to use it. Of course, one could make derivatives of this former version of Toonloop!
